The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) is a major Indian government health campaign, led by MoHFW & MoWCD, focusing on women's & children's health through extensive free camps for screening (anemia, cancers, NCDs), nutrition, hygiene, and immunization, aiming to build strong families for a developed India (Viksit Bharat 2047). This whole-of-government effort mobilizes various ministries, medical colleges, and private bodies for community-level care, strengthening preventative and promotive health services nationwide.

Key Focus Areas & Activities:

  • Comprehensive Health Screenings: Early detection of anemia, NCDs (diabetes, hypertension, cancers), TB, sickle cell disease, eye, ENT, and dental issues.

 

  • Maternal & Child Health: Antenatal care (ANC), immunization, nutrition support, and counseling for pregnant women and children.
  • Nutrition & Hygiene: Awareness on healthy diets, menstrual hygiene, lifestyle changes, and obesity prevention.

 

  • Community Outreach: Organized health camps at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, CHCs, District Hospitals, and other facilities.
  • "Whole-of-Government" Approach: Involving numerous ministries, medical colleges, and private organizations for broad participation.

 

  • Integration: Aligned with initiatives like Poshan Maah and focusing on outcomes for Viksit Bharat 2047.

Goal:

  • To create a strong, healthy foundation for families by ensuring women's well-being, which is seen as crucial for national progress, with large-scale community participation and digital tracking (SASHAKT portal).

The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (Healthy Woman, Empowered Family Campaign) is a nationwide healthcare initiative in India primarily operating within the Public Health and Nutrition Sectors.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2025, the campaign is a joint effort led by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD).

 

Key Sectors and Focus Areas
The initiative integrates multiple healthcare and social welfare sectors to provide holistic care for women and children:

  • Preventive & Curative Healthcare: Focuses on early detection and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like hypertension, diabetes, and various cancers (breast, cervical, and oral).

 

  • Nutrition (Poshan): Implemented in close convergence with Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) to address anemia and promote better nutritional practices among women and adolescent girls.
  • Maternal and Child Health: Provides comprehensive antenatal care, fetal growth tracking, and life-saving immunizations for children.

 

  • Specialized Disease Screening: Includes targeted screenings for Tuberculosis (TB) and Sickle Cell Disease, particularly in tribal regions.
  • Ayush Sector: The Ministry of Ayush partners in the campaign to promote traditional wellness and holistic health for women.

 

  • Public-Private Partnership (Jan Bhagidari): Operates as a "people's participation" model, encouraging private hospitals and medical colleges to provide specialist services alongside government facilities.

Implementation Levels

The Abhiyaan delivers services through a multi-tier health infrastructure:

  • Primary Level: Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and Anganwadi centers.

 

  • Secondary/Tertiary Level: Community Health Centre’s (CHCs), District Hospitals, and Medical Colleges.
  • Specialized Institutions: Central institutions like AIIMS, and sector-specific hospitals such as ESIC, Defense, and Railway hospitals.
