About us

The "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan" (SNSPA) is a large-scale health initiative by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women & Child Development to improve women's and children's health across India. It focuses on providing preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare services through health camps, focusing on non-communicable diseases, anaemia, maternal and child health, and nutrition. The campaign aims to strengthen community health, promote healthy lifestyles, and build a healthier nation through widespread community participation.

To strengthen healthcare services by improving access to quality care and increasing health awareness for women and children across India, with a special focus on rural and tribal areas. The campaign is a joint effort by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD), encouraging active community and private sector participation. The initiative includes a wide range of activities through nationwide medical and health camps held at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centers (CHCs), and district hospitals.

The campaign emphasizes a "Whole-of Society" approach, with massive participation from local government representatives, healthcare workers (ASHAs, ANMs), and youth groups, underscoring a collective effort to place women's health at the center of community well-being.

About the Focus

  • Mission: To improve the health and well-being of women and children, recognizing that healthy women build strong families and a healthier nation.

 

  • Launch: Inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India and part of a broader convergence with other health movements like Poshan Maah.
  • Scope: A nationwide campaign involving a large network of government facilities, private hospitals, and community participation.

  • Health Camps: Organized at the community level to provide screenings and services for women and children, including antenatal care, immunization, and check-ups for non-communicable diseases.

 

  • Health Screenings: Provided for various conditions, including non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes, anaemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease.
  • Health Awareness: Conducted through various activities to promote healthy lifestyles, with a focus on nutrition, physical activity, and menstrual hygiene.

 

  • Community Mobilization: Encourages community participation through initiatives like NIKSHAY Mitras (partners for TB patients) and voluntary blood donation pledges. 

The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (Healthy Woman, Empowered Family Campaign) is a nationwide health initiative by the Government of India, focused on improving the health and nutrition of women and children to build a stronger nation. The core philosophy is that a healthy mother ensures a healthy family and contributes to national progress, aligning with the vision for a "Viksit Bharat 2047" (Developed India by 2047). Screenings for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and various cancers (breast, cervical, oral). Detection and counseling for anaemia, tuberculosis (TB), and sickle cell disease. Comprehensive maternal and child health services, including antenatal check-ups and immunizations. Promoting a healthy lifestyle through yoga sessions, physical activity counselling, and nutrition awareness.
